Meet Steve: the man behind S.C. Elliott

An experienced, seasoned professional you can trust.

Steve Elliott’s experience in managing, maintaining, repairing, selling and buying properties led him to start S.C. Elliott Home Inspection, LLC, in 2018. Several experiences with poor, insufficient home inspections made him realize the importance, care and trust homeowners put in the hands of home inspectors.

At S.C. Elliott, homeowners and real estate professionals can rest assured that Steve will conduct a thorough, professional and honest assessment of any Michigan residential property. His comprehensive knowledge paired with an InterNACHI certification makes him a trusted resource for any Michigan home inspection. Steve’s goal is to help people make informed decisions for one of the most important and largest purchases in their lives.

Buying or selling a house shouldn’t be a stressful or negative experience. I look forward to being a helpful part of the process as you move from one home to another.

Should I be present for the inspection?

Many potential homeowners prefer to attend the inspection as they find the information extremely valuable; however, you don’t need to be present. Spending a few hours with the inspector allows you to ask questions and gain understanding of any issues or repairs that need to be made. If you are unable to be present at all for the inspection, that’s not a problem. The inspector will be happy to review the final report and findings with you after the inspection is complete.

Why do I need an inspection?

The purchase of a home is one of the biggest decisions most people make in their lifetime. Being as informed as possible regarding the condition of your potential purchase allows you to make the best decision for you. Knowing of necessary repairs or maintenance prior to the purchase helps to avoid any unpleasant surprises after the fact. Conversely, when an inspection reveals that the property is in excellent shape, it gives buyers peace of mind knowing they’ve made a great investment.

Can I do the inspection myself?

We always recommend having a home inspection conducted by a professional for a variety of reasons. Inspectors are familiar with elements even a seasoned homeowner may be unaware of. Certified Inspectors are equipped to know if property elements meet appropriate standards and how all systems should work and function together. An objective, third-party assessment is beneficial as you can rest assured that you’ve gotten a truly unbiased inspection of the property.
